Only things in daily use. If it is listed, it is running.

Machines

  • Helm — MacBook Pro, Apple silicon, 24 GB. Where I work and where Claude Code and the local model server live.
  • Knowledge — Mac mini. Runs Knowfer (Rails + Postgres) and its MCP server behind Caddy.
  • Orchestrator — Ubuntu on a Ryzen 9 build. Crons, the agent gateway, n8n, the shared mesh’s source of truth.
  • Worker — Ubuntu. Peer node, probes, batch jobs.
  • Public — a small Linode VPS for the things that need a public address.
  • UniFi for the network.

Infrastructure

  • Tailscale for the overlay. dnsmasq plus /etc/resolver for names. Caddy in front of anything HTTP.
  • launchd on the Macs, systemd timers on Linux. Cron for anything that runs on a schedule and does not need a service.
  • PostgreSQL for anything durable. Redis for cache, queues and pub/sub. Git as the sync layer for operational state.

Building

  • Ruby on Rails as the system of record. Vue 3 in JavaScript on top. Vite.
  • Python for tools and workers. uv for environments. Standard library first.
  • Swift for the occasional menu-bar thing.
  • Claude Code for building. Hermes as the fleet’s agent runtime. DeepSeek for cheap auxiliary tasks. MLX for local inference when a question should not leave the building.

Writing and thinking

  • A Markdown vault, synced by git, with an index that agents can read.
  • Telegram for notifications from the fleet. Plain text for everything that has to survive a decade.
